Normally, you’d assume that buying a castle will set you back at least a few million Great British pounds. Castles are, after all, the traditional abodes of royalty and aristocracy. But what if we told you that you could get your hands on one for just a fraction of that?

Well, right now you can. Picton Castle in the Welsh market town of Pwllheli has just gone up for sale for £355,000. Okay, it’s technically a mini castle, but a castle nonetheless. Picton dates back to around 1810 and, in true regal fashion, holds an position looking down the town, harbour and Cardigan Bay.

Despite its age, the three-bedroom castle offers bright, modern interiors. You’ve got a roomy kitchen featuring a central island, a cosy living room with a stone fireplace and a well-lit dining room. And just in case you need reminding that you are indeed living in a castle, there’s a funky medieval-style stained glass window on the landing.

Outside, there’s a double-glazed summer house and landscaped terrace gardens where you can sit and soak in sea views. Here are some pics to give you an idea of the place.
