With Glasgow’s thriving music scene, Edinburgh’s vibrant history and the magnificent expanse of the Highlands, Scotland makes for one heck of a fun (and diverse) tourist destination.
So it’s no surprise that the British public are giving the country the appreciation it really deserves. According to the holiday rental site Vrbo, Scotland is the top trending domestic destination for UK holidaymakers over the Easter period.
Vrbo revealed that search interest in Scotland has risen by 65 percent over the past year – the highest rise of any destination in the UK.
While holidays in the country’s capital and the Highlands remain very popular, Vrbo’s data shows that lesser frequented areas such as Moray in the north-east and Stirling in the middle of the country are having their moment in the spotlight. Argyll and Bute is another trending area: famous for its whisky, this region is also home to dramatic coastlines and haunting forests that have appeared in loads of blockbuster movies.
Here’s the full list of the most searched-for destinations in Scotland, according to Vrbo:
Highlands
Argyll and Bute
Fife
Edinburgh
Perth and Kinross
Aberdeenshire
Stirling
Moray
