Brighton i360, that huge silver spire that towers above Brighton’s promenade, was forced to suddenly shut down back in November 2024. Having faced a bunch of financial struggles in recent years, the local council simply couldn’t afford to keep it open any longer. But now, one of the UK’s best-known entrepreneurs has swooped in to bring it back.
The landmark has been acquired by none other than TV ‘Dragon’ Sarah Willingham. The Dragon’s Den star and Brighton local already owns Nightcap, a chain of more than 40 bars across the UK. She’s now signed a huge 115-year deal with Brighton and Hove City Council to run the attraction.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sussex, Willingham suggested that the i360, with its moving viewing pod, could be back up and running by March. She added that from then, the tower will ‘just keep opening piecemeal - a bit at a time’.
The plan is to turn the bars and cafes at the site into a ‘thriving hub’ for residents and tourists. Willingham also teased that tickets for the attraction, which previously cost a controversial £18.50, could be made more affordable.
Jacob Taylor, deputy leader of Brighton and Hove City Council, said: ‘We are delighted that Nightcap has taken such a keen interest in revitalising the i360, and their passion and commitment to the city is evident.
‘We think this is the best option for the city – giving a fresh start for the attraction, and helping to ensure this important stretch of seafront can thrive.’
