The depths of winter may not be everyone’s ideal time for a camping trip, but it’s always a good time to start planning your spring and summer adventures.

And what better way to get some inspiration than finding out which camping sites have been named the very best in the country? Every year Campsites.co.uk organises the Camping and Glamping Awards, and the best campsite in the UK for 2023 has just been revealed.

And the campsite taking the crown this year? Watermouth Valley Camping Park near Ilfracombe, Devon. It’s a family run site for tents and caravans, just a step away from the gorgeous coastal path (and with its own private cliff steps to the waterfront). Campsites.co.uk praised its friendly staff and ‘great amenities including delicious food vans, local produce in the farm shop and a games room for the kids’.

As well as a whole host of regional winners, other award categories Best Adult Only Site, Best Glamping Site, Best Coastal Campsite, Best Newcomer, and Most Unique Site.

Longnor Wood Holiday Park in the Peak District won in the adult-only group, praised for its pristine facilities, quiet environment and stunning location. Best glamping site went to East Thorne in Cornwall, a spot decked out with roundhouses, jacuzzi hot tubs, farm animals and massage treatments, while the award for most unique went to the Living Room Treehouses in Machynlleth, Wales, on the edge of Snowdonia National Park.
