Organising a holiday is not an easy feat. Beyond flights and accommodation, there are so many other factors and pesky hidden costs. Who’s going to feed the cats? Do I have to pay for travel insurance? How do I even get to the airport in the first place?

A lot of travellers choose to drive themselves to the airport and leave their car parked up while they go off gallivanting on their hols. But this can be quite a spenny option. And if you’re travelling from one of the UK’s biggest airports, parking rates are particularly high. In fact, they’re among the highest in the entire world.

That’s according to vehicle finance company, Moneybarn, which found the busiest airports in the world and compared their minimum weekly parking prices in May 2023.

It turns out that London Heathrowwith weekly rates of £255.30, has the second most expensive airport parking in the world. London Gatwick also appeared on the top ten, ranking fifth priciest at £180 per week.

If you’re wondering, the most expensive airport parking was found to be Hamad International Airport in Qatar. It apparently costs an astounding £433.61 to park your car for seven days at the Qatari airport.

Maybe next time we'll stick to the train, eh?

Did you see that these are the busiest airports in the UK to avoid this summer?
