Despite a last-ditch heatwave last weekend, summer in the UK looks like it’s officially riding off into the sunset. But as the temperatures slowly dip, that’s no problem. After all, who said you need hot weather to go on holiday? There’s a lot to be said about sweater weather getaways.

Wondering where to head next? Well, to save you hours of aimless Googling, travel company EnjoyTravel.com has compiled a list of the top 50 islands in the world to visit in 2023. To curate the rankings, the company took into account contributions from their audience and editorial team, as well as new hotel and restaurant openings.

The Isles of Scilly, a group of tiny islands just off the coast of Cornwall, were the only UK islands to make the ranking. They came in 36th place and it’s not difficult to see why. With incredible natural landscapes, the islands feature vibrant coral reefs and long stretches of stunning coastline.

Scilly is best reached either by hopping on a plane from Land’s End, Newquay or Exeter airports or by boat on the Scillonian III passenger ferry from Penzance
