They say good things come in small packages. And that’s certainly true of these beautiful rentals that are taking off on Airbnb right now.
The short-term rental platform has acknowledged that the increased cost of living has tightened holiday budgets, so alongside the UK’s most trending destinations for 2023, it has shared its most wish-listed properties costing under £100 a night.
From a former traveller’s wagon in Sussex to a loft in Scotland, the site’s most popular affordable stays may not look like much from the outside but each home comes with its own slice of luxury – plus a ton of charm. Not a single city apartment features on the list, suggesting that most Brits are craving some serenity away from the city.
Some of the properties are stripped back to the very basics. A ‘boatel’ in Wales is described as ‘old and dusty with the occasional spider’ yet has rave reviews and an average 4.93 rating from guests. Others feature a surprising range of amenities for their limited space, including a tiny house in the Yorkshire woodlands, featuring a flatscreen TV and coffee machine.
Here are Airbnb’s ten most wish-listed UK properties under £100 for spring 2023:
- Peaceful Woodland Retreat, Calderdale, West Yorkshire
- The Nest Glamping Cabin, Dalmally, Scotland
- Shepherd’s Hut, Robertsbridge, East Sussex
- The Loft, Rattray, Scotland
- Boatel, Powys, Wales
- 1920s showman’s wagon, Guestling, East Sussex
