The nights are still long and the temperatures are close to freezing, so no wonder a lot of people are thinking about booking a holiday right now.

Data from TripAdvisor’s Seasonal Travel Index is proving that travel is still a growing priority for us Brits, despite the rising cost of living. The study shows that almost half of people in the UK intend to travel more than they did last year, and they’re also set to spend more, with just under half planning to splash more cash on their biggest-ever trips this year.

But despite this, affordability is still the most important factor for people to consider when planning trips away. Ninety percent of Brits are planning to only take one or two trips this year – pointing to an increase in people prioritising a big holiday over more, shorter getaways.

But where exactly is everyone off to? The survey also revealed the most popular destinations in the UK for people planning trips away this spring – and the results are pretty unsurprising. London takes the number-one spot, followed by Edinburgh at number two and Liverpool – the host city of this year’s Eurovision song contest – at number three.

These are the most popular UK destinations for spring 2023, according to TripAdvisor:

1. London

2. Edinburgh

3. Liverpool

4. York

5. Blackpool

6. Manchester

7. Windermere

8. Bath

9. Glasgow

10. Birmingham

The TripAdvisor Seasonal Travel Index was based on data drawn from an online survey of more than 2,100 consumers, as well as search data for travel in spring on the TripAdvisor website between December 1 2022 and January 25 2023.
