As Brits, a good ol’ pint at the pub is in our blood. Pubs are an integral part of British heritage and culture – and that’s especially the case with the really, really pretty ones out in the country. No matter how remote you are in the UK, there’s usually a picturesque boozer nearby.
But which UK country pubs are officially the prettiest? To find out, house rental company Big House Experience analysed Instagram hashtag data for over 200 country pubs that were described as ‘beautiful’ in reputable publications over the past two years.
And the winner for the prettiest pub in the UK was, drum roll please… The Gunton Arms in Norfolk! Surrounded by vast fields full of deer, the Gunton’s insides are full of lovely dark wood and earthy decor, as well as art pieces by Damien Hirst and Lucian Freud.
In second place was The Gurnard’s Head in Cornwall, thanks to its glorious sea views of the Cornish coastline, while third was The Punch Bowl in Cumbria, nestled in the rolling hills of the Lake District.
Here are the top ten most picturesque pubs in the UK, according to Big House Experience.
- The Gunton Arms, Norfolk
- The Gurnard’s Head, Cornwall
- The Punch Bowl, Cumbria
- The Drovers Inn, Loch Lomond
- The Clachaig Inn, Argyll
- Lord Crewe Arms, County Durham
