There’s surely nothing Brits love more than hearty pub grub. Steak and ale pie, Yorkshire puds, bangers and mash – whether you arrive suited and booted or fresh from a countryside walk, there’s no appetite that a pub can’t satisfy. And gastropubs, their slightly fancier counterparts, are no exception.
Every year Estrella Damm publishes a list of the country’s best gastropubs based on votes from 100 industry professionals from around the UK. As well as the main list of 50 top pubs, a ‘best newcomer’ and ‘one to watch’ are awarded special recognition. As ever, this year’s picks showcased elevated twists on beloved British classics, daily rotating menus and premium local produce.
Here’s the top ten in full:
- Parkers Arms, Newton-In-Bowland
- The Unruly Pig, Woodbridge
- Freemasons at Wiswell, Wiswell
- The Sportsman, Seasalter
- The Kentish Hare, Tunbridge Wells
- The Angel at Hetton, Hetton
