As any parent knows, planning a holiday that pleases the whole family is tricky business. A week of chilling on sun-loungers probably won’t cut it for the little ones, but a holiday park complete with an S-Club tribute band and sub-par magician is a pretty soul-sucking experience for anyone over the age of nine.
Luckily, those aren’t your only options. In fact, the UK has loads of areas offering attractions and activities genuinely suitable for all generations. And now research commissioned by Premier Inn has unveiled the top 20 places in Britain for a family-friendly staycation, taking into account stuff like beach or swimming pool accessibility, the number of free attractions and affordability of accommodation.
Experts surveyed 2000 parents and 66 percent of pollers agreed that free days out were an important element in planning their stay, while 68 percent said they try to find educational places to visit.
With a wealth of stunning beaches and free attractions like Falmouth Art Gallery and St Michael’s Mount, Cornwall came out on top. The Lake District and Devon followed in second and third place.
