The end of the year is the ideal time to reflect on all the cool stuff you’ve done so far and to think about everything you still want to tick off. If you’re stuck for inspiration, look no further. Go2Africa has revealed the bucket list experiences that proved the most popular in 2024. And two of them are in the UK and could be on your doorstep.

Researchers at the travel specialism company looked at search data from the last 12 months to determine the top bucket list experiences in major countries around the world.

After the numbers were crunched, world-famous UNESCO World Heritage site Stonehenge landed in 14th with 601,000 Google searches throughout the year. The ancient structure is older than the Great Pyramids of Egypt and is largely a mystery to historians. And that’s what makes it so fascinating all over the globe. Was it a place of worship? An alien landing pad? Who even put them there? You’ve got to see it to believe it.

Seeing London’s Big Ben (actual name: the Elizabeth Tower), one of the most globally recognisable symbols of the UK, was 17th on the list, above Niagara Falls, the Empire State Building and the Colosseum.

At the top of the ranking of Go2Africa’s bucket list experiences was visiting Bali in Indonesia, going on safari in Africa and exploring Santorini in Greece. You can see the full results of the study here
