How’s your love life doing? Have you given up on dating apps yet? Sworn off men? Taken a vow of celibacy? If you’re looking for romance right now, things can seem pretty dismal. So dismal, in fact, that here at Time Out we recently turned to experts to ask why it’s so hard to find love these days. But new research shows that Brits may not be as unlucky in love as we think.

For Ipsos’s ‘Love Life Satisfaction Survey’ 2025, nearly 24,000 adults under 75 across 30 countries (1,000 people here in Britain), were quizzed about how happy they were with their romantic lives.

How did Great Britain do? Not bad, actually. It ranked 12th on the index with a very respectable love satisfaction score of 75. And we had one of the highest scores among the European countries that were sampled, falling in third place after the Netherlands and Spain. Maybe romance isn’t dead after all!

Let’s break that score down a bit more. When asked how satisfied they were in regards to ‘feeling loved’, 80 percent of Brits responded either somewhat or very satisfied. Aww.

When it came to their romantic/sex life, 58 percent of Brits responded positively, whereas 19 percent responded ‘not very satisfied’ and 14 percent said ‘not at all satisfied’. Then, 87 percent of the coupled up respondents said they were very or somewhat satisfied with their partner or spouse.

The most loved up country right now, according to Ipsos’s index, is Columbia with an overall score of 82. Japan is down at the bottom with a love satisfaction rating of just 56. See the full results of the survey here.
