Times Higher Education knows its universities. It’s been pitting the world’s unis against each other every year since 2004 and letting prospective students know which ones should be on their radar for their chosen subject.
The ranking rates institutions based on factors including their research environment, international outlook, research quality and teaching. Now, it’s dropped its subject rankings for 2025. And if you’re into computers, algorithms and data analysis, you can’t get much better than studying here in the UK.
Oxford University has kept its crown as the number one uni in the world for computer science. With an overall score of 98.3, THE gave Oxford’s research quality for the subject an almost perfect 99.4 and its teaching 99.2.
It also happens to be the best place on the planet to study medical and health sciences. Oh, and it was named the world’s best university for the ninth year running. What a bunch of nerds! (Just kidding, it’s very impressive.)
Two more British unis were in the global top 10 for comp sci. Cambridge University ranked second overall and Imperial College London landed joint eight.
