Holiday season is very much underway. Thousands of Brits will be passing through UK airports every single day for the next few months, headed to sunnier pastures across the Channel and beyond. The worst part of the holiday is, of course, getting there, but it doesn’t need to be this way.

Singapore Airlines was named the best airline in the world last year at the prestigious Skytrax aviation awards, so you know that flying with the carrier is a treat on its own. As of last week, Singapore Airlines operates out of 13 UK airports, three of which fly directly to Singapore.

Previously, only Manchester and London Heathrow acted as gateways for the airline between the UK and Asia, but now Gatwick has been added to that elite group, and you can get from Gatwick to Singapore Changi Airport for as little as £435 one way if you book far enough in advance. Although be warned – prices do go up to £1500 per person for a one way ticket if you’re not tactical about when you fly.

Flights will operate between the airports five times a week – once a day every day except Wednesdays and Thursdays. The journey is a whopping 13.5 hours long, so you’ll definitely be grateful you decided to splash out on the trip.

The company’s UK and Ireland manager, Mohamed Rafi Mar, said the group has ‘seen a growing demand for travel not just to Singapore, but to Southeast Asia and Australia.’

‘This new route from an internationally recognised airport also offers excellent transport links to London and the southeast of England, for those departing and arriving into the capital.’

You can book your flights with Singapore Airlines here. Happy flying, travellers!
