Here’s one for the true royal fans: a house that was once owned by the Queen Mother has just hit the market. Named The Old Vicarage, it’s a seven-bedroom pad and one of the oldest buildings in a town near Lake Windermere in the Lake District. And it could be all yours for a tidy £3.75 million.

It should probably be noted that the royal connection isn’t particularly strong. While The Old Vicarage was owned by the Queen Mother (it was apparently bought as a potential stopover for her trips to Scotland), she never actually stayed in it. Her daughter Princess Margaret might’ve stayed in the house – but only once.

Even if you’re not a royal fanatic, however, The Old Vicarage is a rather splendid abode. Built in 1623, the building features lots of wooden beams and bare stonework. It’s also smack-bang in one of the most naturally spectacular areas of the Lake District, meaning it boasts lakeside views and is surrounded by rolling hills.

The property itself is, as you’d expect, ginormous. Inside you’ll find six bedrooms, three bathrooms, four reception rooms, an office, conservatory, wine cellar, outdoor kitchen and much, much more. Here are a few pics of the place.
