Nothing hits you with a wave of primary school nostalgia like the Laughing Cow snackables. But for those who have chosen to ditch all things meat and dairy since their playground days, those creamy cheesy wedges of goodness are but a distant memory.
But not for much longer. This month, Laughing Cow is rolling out its first vegan alternative across UK supermarkets. Now, we all know that vegan cheese doesn’t really have the best reputation, but Bel, which owns the brand, has already released plant-based versions of the beloved BabyBel and the classic Boursin – so it knows what it’s doing.
Laughing Cow’s vegan version is made from almonds and has the same spreadable texture of the OG. Plus it is of course sold in the triangle shape that we all know and love.
Vegans and the vegan-curious will be able to purchase the milk-free option in Asda or Sainsbury’s at £2.50 for a wheel of eight wedges.
Oliver Richmond, senior brand manager at The Laughing Cow, told The Grocer: ‘Enabling us to establish ourselves in a new category and allowing more consumers to enjoy the world of The Laughing Cow, the launch is designed to satisfy the growing consumer need for more plant-based products.
‘As the first plant-based alternative to cheese in portions, the convenient format is set to see sales soaring.’
