Some truths are universal. If you’re maths-smart in school, you’ll be encouraged to become a doctor. If you’re English-smart in school, they’ll tell you to become a lawyer. Getting a law degree from a top uni is a golden ticket to a comfortable life. Success, money, and Audis come freely to those who earn them, so it makes sense that they’re pretty competitive to get into.
The Complete University guide, one of the most trusted uni rankings in Britain, has now revealed exactly which law course in the UK is the best.
The ranking considers everything from student satisfaction to research output. We’ve already covered who they ranked as their top university overall this year, and where to go if you want to study medicine. But if you’ve got big dreams of donning a flattering black robe and dashing white wig for work, you may be more interested in discovering which are the best unis for law.
There aren’t many surprises in this list. As you could probably have guessed, Cambridge is first, with an ‘overall score’ of 100 percent. To be fair to them, that is pretty hard to beat.
In second place was University College London (UCL), followed by the London School of Economics. In fourth place was, suprisingly, Oxford. There's a lot of overlap between the top unis for law and medicine, with the only notable omissions in this case being St Andrews, which doesn't actually have a law course.
