Here at Time Out, we spend a lot of time eating our way through the UK. After months of wining and dining, we’ve recently revealed the best restaurant in Manchester and Glasgow’s finest eatery for 2025 and now, we’ve published our newly updated guide to the greatest places to eat in Brighton.
And congratulations are in order – claiming the title as Brighton’s best restaurant right now is Mexican joint Halisco.
Time Out’s Liv Kelly, an expert on all things Brighton, said: ‘Halisco is a far cry from a relaxed and sophisticated dinner place, but that’s what’s so brilliant about it.
‘It sits proudly on Preston Street, one of the best spots in Brighton for properly outstanding food, and whether you’re just after a cocktail and a snack or a saucy, spicy, Mexican feast, this place’ll have you covered. Whatever you do, make sure the hibiscus margarita and the oyster mushroom birria tacos are part of your order.’
What’s more, you don’t have take out a small mortgage to dine here. Prices for the small plates at Halisco range from £8-£12, and its tacos start at £9.50 for two. Liv also urges visitors to check out Halisco’s brand-new sister venue, Bar Halisco, which opened in February.
Elsewhere on the list, we named Brighton’s most awarded restaurant, the Little Fish Market, number two and Bincho Yakitori snapped up third place.
