Staycations come in many forms, from a cute B&B in a seaside town to hiring a campervan for a road trip. But for families who need to keep kids occupied, sometimes the best option is a holiday park.

There are plenty of companies offering up static caravans, lodges, chalets and bags of entertainment, all across the UK, and consumer company Which? has just named which are the best (and worst) rated.

Guests were asked to rate their stays based on the quality of the accommodation, customer service, cleanliness, value for money and facilities and activities on offer, and with scores based on satisfaction and likeliness to recommend to other people.

Claiming the top spot was Potters Resorts, which scored an impressive 87 percent. The company has two sites in the UK, in Essex and Norfolk, and has been hosting guests for over 100 years. It scored better than big-name competitors, particularly on factors such as the free facilities on offer as well as the quality of entertainment and communication.

Forest Holidays, which has 13 locations across England, Wales and Scotland came in second place with 80 percent, and Bluestone Wales and John Fowler Holiday Parks came joint third with 77 percent.

‘Holiday parks have been a mainstay of British holidays for decades, but with so many options to choose from it isn’t always easy to know which will be the right fit for your family,’ said Naomi Leach, deputy editor of Which? Travel. ‘Our latest survey shows that it's worth looking beyond the best-known names, with smaller and independent resorts offering excellent value for money, great customer service and plenty of onsite entertainment.’
