Few British dishes are quite so scrumptious as a crispy, freshly-battered cod with vinegar-doused chunky chips and some mushy peas. But as we all know, not all chippies are equal. Once you find a good one, you’ve got a friend for life.
While everyone loves their local fish and chips shop, some are undeniably better than others. And it turns out that loads of the UK’s best chippies are in Scotland. At the 2024 Good Food Awards, a whopping 17 Scottish fish and chip shops scooped awards.
Notable establishments which took home prizes included the previously-award-winning Frankie’s Fish and Chips in Brae and local favourites like Oban Fish and Chip Shop in Oban and #Fish in Edinburgh.
