Things are on the up (and up and up) in Dorset. People of the southwest of England, there’ll be no more 1am drives to Gatwick or frantic rushes to Heathrow – Bournemouth Airport is primed and ready to take even more passengers to sunny destinations abroad.
At the beginning of last year, Bournemouth airport (Dorset’s primary hub) announced that it would be getting a £5m new look to prepare for more passengers. Then, in November 2024 it welcomed its millionth passenger of the year after a ‘bumper summer season’, a milestone that it hasn’t hit since 2008. And its in for another major year.
Right now, the airport only has 18 destinations to pick from. But three more are being added to its roster this summer. In a few months times, Ryanair will launch brand new flights from Bournemouth to Fuerteventura in Spain and Chania and Rhodes in Greece.
The airline is also pushing up the number of flights going to 14 existing destinations, including Faro, Lanzarote and Palma de Mallorca.
Jade Kirwan, Ryanair's head of communications, said: ‘Ryanair is pleased to announce our summer 2025 schedule for Bournemouth, with 21 routes including three new routes to Chania, Fuerteventura and Rhodes, as well as extra frequencies on 14 other popular routes to key holiday destinations like Faro, Lanzarote and Palma de Mallorca, giving our UK customers even more choice at the lowest fares this summer.’
