It’s not every day that you have the chance to settle down somewhere with a Hollywood stamp of approval. But right now, a former movie star’s home is on the market and up for grabs. So long as you have a couple of million Great British pounds to spare.
Appleton House in Gloucestershire is on sale for £2.1 million and was once lived in by Sir Roger Moore. The late James Bond star rented the Edwardian property for two years in the sixties – around the same time that he was starring in British spy series ‘The Saint’, but a decade or so before he became Bond.
What makes Appleton House worthy of 007’s presence? Besides its six bedrooms, five bathrooms and five reception rooms, the house has its own gym, a gorgeous orangery, a huge formal garden with a pool, decorative bridge and pergola, and its very own woodland.
It’s also set among the idyllic landscape of the Cotswolds and away from the roads, so is super private. Very on-brand for a spy, eh?
Although Appleton House isn’t a listed building, sellers say it has ‘all the character of an older property’. They add: ‘It’s an interesting part of the property’s history and says something about the house that someone like Sir Roger Moore chose to live there’.
