Who doesn’t love a good hotel? Well, this one in the Lake District is going to take some beating – it’s just been named the best country hotel in the UK.
The Forest Side is in an idyllic spot in Grasmere, and has just taken top spot in the Good Hotel Guide. And given it has its own Michelin-star restaurant, it’s no surprise at all.
The much-acclaimed food is mostly sourced locally, with 90 percent of produce coming within a ten-mile radius. The kitchen garden also produces many of the ingredients.
You can enjoy four-course or eight-course meals featuring dishes such as hand-dived scallops in a lobster sauce, Dexter beef and smoked bone marrow, and aged Cumbrian lamb with a garden salad.
The Good Hotel Guide awards hotels, hostels and bed and breakfasts with outstanding qualities across the country. It considers itself the only truly independent hotel guide in the UK. You can book a stay at Forest Side here.
