What’s the password to your laptop, email or Netflix account? You don’t have to tell us, but chances are it’s the same across many platforms – unless you’re pretty security-savvy and have opted for a different one (and preferably a load of gobbledigook) each time.
Unfortunately, however, many Britons are sticking to painfully obvious passwords – including the word ‘password’ itself – to gain entry into online portals.
According to password manager company NordPass, the top pick globally is ‘password’ followed by its variations such as ‘Password1’ and ‘Password123’.
Other guessable codes include ‘qwerty’, ‘abc123’ and ‘12345678’. Football teams also feature among the most popular passwords, with Liverpool FC proving most common.
