Nothing beats the first bite of freshly battered cod by the seaside – with a side of hand-cut chips and mushy peas, of course. The UK is renowned for its abundance of top-quality fish and chip restaurants, but figuring out the best of the best is always a topic of hot debate.
That’s where the National Fish and Chip Awards come in. Each year, the country’s top chippies compete for ten awards – including the coveted Best Newcomer, Best Takeaway and Best Restaurant. The awards have been running for more than 30 years are being hosted by the National Federation of Fish Friers (yes, that is absolutely a real thing). Other awards include Supplier of the Year, Environment and Sustainability Champion and Quality Accreditation Champion.
The shortlist of chippies to make the 2023 awards has just been revealed, with the final awards announced at a ceremony on February 28. So has your local favourite made the cut? You can see the full list below.
