The roast dinner is more than just a meal: it’s a British institution. A hearty plate of rich meat (unless you’re veggie, of course) with succulent veg, crispy Yorkshire puddings and generous lashings of gravy is as British as it gets – and right now, with the colder, rainier weather, is exactly the time of year to get back into them.
Ever wondered which UK city does the best roast dinners? Well, now we might have the answer. Price comparison website Idealo compared factors like the popularity, prices and quality of roasts up and down the country to come out with the UK’s finest places to tuck into a roast dinner.
The best city in the UK overall for a roast dinner was apparently Bristol. With 135 Sunday dinner venues dotted across the city, Bristol’s best roast is apparently at Caper and Cure, which boasts a huge selection of meat and veg roasts at an average price of £16.
But Idealo didn’t just stop at the best city overall for roast dinners. Oh no. It also revealed other winners, too. Sheffield and Liverpool jointly snagged the title for the cheapest roast dinners in the UK. The most varied roasts are apparently in Newcastle, while Leeds roasts were crowned the most Instagrammable.
Here is the full list of roast dinner findings, according to Idealo.
