Whether you opt for an artificial, reusable Christmas tree, a real but reusable one in a pot, or a new sturdy pine every festive season, Christmas trees are arguably the most essential part of Crimbo decorations. After all, where do you put all the presents if not under a tree?
While getting a brand-new tree every year is one of the most popular choices, it ain’t cheap. But some places in the UK are much more expensive for buying trees than others, and a new study by online betting company Betway has revealed which places are the most expensive (and cheapest) for buying a tree in 2023. Betway conducted its study by contacting over 100 Christmas tree suppliers across 30 UK cities.
The most expensive city in the UK to buy a Christmas tree was named as Nottingham, where a six-foot Nordmann fir apparently costs an average of £63.50. That’s an entire tenner more than the overall average, which was £53.96.
Second place went to Edinburgh, with trees costing an average of £63, while Derby came third with an average cost of £61.
Down the other end of the table, the cheapest place to buy a tree was Stoke-on-Trent, where the average price is just £46.60. Hull and Blackpool were the second- and third-cheapest, respectively.
