‘Tis (officially) the season for the UK to transform into a magical Christmas wonderland. Some might have begun celebrations a little earlier with a sneaky mulled wine or two in October, but with December just around the corner, it’s finally appropriate to indulge in the festive season. And the best way to spread the cheer? With a cheeky Instagram story or TikTok reel, of course.
Whether it’s twinkling lights, towering Christmas trees or mulled wine bubbling away in a cauldron, Christmas markets boast plenty of social media-worthy sights – but some are more picture-worthy than others. And if it's content that you’re after, Solo Press has done a study to find out which UK Christmas market has the most view-worthy offerings.
The social-media driven study looked at which markets were being shared the most online, with a clear winner coming out on top.
Out of all the country’s spots for bespoke gifts, mulled wine and ice rinks (in fact, we’ve even got a list of the best ones to check out) Edinburgh’s Christmas Market managed to bag the title of the ‘most stunning in the UK’.
With almost 3,000 posts on TikTok and over 55,000 hashtags on Instagram, the Scottish capital’s market is officially the most worthy of posting. Set against the picturesque Edinburgh Castle in Princes Street Gardens, it’s hard to beat those #views.
But if you can’t make it to the Scottish capital, fear not, because Solo Press found the top 10 most social-media friendly spots where you can capture the gift of Christmas across the country, with London’s Winter Wonderland (home to the beloved Bavarian Village) making it to second place, and Manchester’s market coming a close third.
