In a few days’ time, ‘next month’ will be December. That’s right, the festive season has crept up on you once again, and very soon the present-buying, roast-cooking, decoration-handing scramble will begin once again, and we will all act as if we had no idea this was going to happen.

One thing you can be prepared for, however, is the fact that Poundland is closing every single one of its stores this December – just for two days though. Don’t worry, this isn’t yet another casualty of the current plague of high-street closures, but it is worth being aware of if you were planning to do some very last-minute (arguably far too late) shopping.

Here’s what you need to know about Poundland’s closures for the remainder of 2024.

Why is Poundland closing stores in December?

The answer as to why the budget retailer is shuttering up for a couple of days is pretty simple: their staff deserve a ‘well-earned rest’ during the festive period. As great as it would be to be able to pop in to grab a Pep & Co jumper on Dec 25, it’s probably more important that the workers get to see their families.

When will the stores be closing in December?

Poundland stores will be closing exactly when you’d expect them to: on December 25 (Christmas day) and December 26 (Boxing Day). They haven’t said anything about Christmas Eve, so it’s safe to assume that it’ll be business as usual on the 24th, and back again on December 27.

Other dates they’ll be closing

Okay, it’s technically in 2025, but Poundland has also announced that its stores will be closed on New Year’s Day, January 1. Other than that, you should be good to go and browse cheap sweets to your heart’s content.

Did you see that the price of pints could go down in pubs thanks to announcement.
