Good news: after a relentlessly soggy March, it looks as though the UK is due for a spell of balmy weather as we head into the Easter bank holiday weekend.
Though we’re still set to have some chilly starts, along with some cloudy intervals, the weather is on the up. In the south-east of England, temperatures could be as high as 18C on Sunday, making it as hot as Barcelona and even beating sunny Monaco’s weather.
Meanwhile, Scotland will remain a little chillier, with temperatures ranging between 9C and 13C, and in Northern Ireland the temperature should remain around 13C.
Dan Suri, the Met Office’s chief forecaster, said: ‘Ahead of the bank holiday weekend, unsettled conditions will see bands of rain – with some heavy bursts in places – moving eastwards through the rest of Wednesday and early Thursday.
‘As this clears a mixture of sunshine and showers will prevail for much of Thursday before a more settled pattern establishes for Good Friday and Easter Saturday as high pressure begins to build.’
But hay fever sufferers, beware: the sudden rise in temperatures may also lead to a sudden rise in pollen.
