As much as these Paris 2024 Olympics have been a joyful affair, with a bonkers opening ceremony and an already-impressive medal haul for Team GB – it’ll be also marked by one rather sad event. These Games will feature Andy Murray’s last ever tennis tournament.

Murray is set to retire this summer as Britain’s most successful male tennis player, having won three ‘grand slam’ tournaments and two Olympic tennis tournaments. And Murray just prolonged his stay in the tournament: he and Dan Evans are into the quarter finals of the men’s doubles.

In the first round Murray and Evans defeated Japan’s Taro Daniel and Kei Nishikori, while on Tuesday (July 30) the duo beat Belgium’s Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen. They’re now set-up for a quarter final – here’s everything you need to know about watching it.

Why is Andy Murray retiring?

Murray has been hampered by physical issues in recent years – the latest of which involved surgery to remove a cyst from his back six weeks ago. He recently confirmed on Twitter/X that the Paris Olympics will be his ‘last ever tournament’.
