Ever found yourself wanting to take part in an ancient Celtic ritual or get more in touch with your spiritual side? Well, living close by an actual druid landmark might help make that a reality.

And lucky for you, there’s currently a property on sale that offers pretty much just that. Midmar Church (or Kirk as the Scottish sometimes say) in Aberdeenshire sits next to Midmar Stone Circle and has been put on the market for offers over £50,000.

According to Historic England, the church was deliberately built close to the collection of stones in 1787 because it was believed to be a druid religious structure.

A spokesperson for Midmar Kirk said that the structure, which is in the care of Historic Scotland and the Church of Scotland, was apparently built to reflect the lunar rather than the solar cycle. It’s known as a recumbent stone circle, meaning that it includes a huge slab lying on its side, between the two tallest stones in the structure. It’s believed that it makes the perfect frame through which to view the ‘standstill’ moon that occurs every 18.6 years.

Don’t get too excited though, as the owner of the church won’t actually take the stones off Historic Scotland’s hands. But they will still make for a very interesting, mystical neighbour. Who knows, maybe you’ll get to partake in an ancient ritual or two.

The church is still in use and holding services right now and includes a mezzanine, a kitchen, an organ and an office area. You can take a closer look at what it’s got to offer over on the Church of Scotland’s website. Here is another pic to whet your appetite:
