Cottagecore – an internet aesthetic based on romanticising country life, for those not in-the-know – might’ve peaked a few years ago, but that doesn’t mean you should throw out those dreams of a picture-perfect rural lifestyle. You could, for instance, move into a house just like this one: a delightful cottage in Devon that looks straight out of a fairytale.

A seven-bedroom medieval manor, this property has seen a whopping 700 years of British history pass it by. The original manor was founded Sir William le Prouz (whose effigy lies in a nearby church) in the thirteenth century before being passed on to the founders of nearby Wadham College in the fifteenth century.

Despite all that history, the manor is all in good condition thanks to careful restoration and development by its owners over the years. It’s located on the eastern fringes of the Dartmoor National Park in a place called Mapstone Hill.

The stunning property extends over three floors, with its main entrance leading directly to a bright, open-plan kitchen with white timber cabinetry and sunny mustard walls. Not to mention the site’s pièce de résistance: its many mid-century Crittall windows, which are both gorgeous and flood the home with light.

Here are some pictures of the property.
