London’s property market is a bit of a shambles. Quit buying daily oat lattes and cancel your Netflix subscription, you might scrape enough for a deposit on a one-bed place in the capital. Or, you could make that money stretch much further and just buy a whole island in Scotland.
Torsa Island in Oban has just gone on the market for a cool £1.5 million — the same as an (albeit very nice and rather central) studio flat in London. Obviously, cutting back on coffee and streaming platforms isn’t going to cut it, but we can dream.
The 270-acre island comes with a three-bed farmhouse, castle ruins, woodlands, several private beaches and glorious views. There’s also an anchorage for yachts and motorboats and you can access the Scottish mainland via the 200 year old Clachan Bridge.
Right now Torsa Island can be rented out as a holiday retreat, where guests can switch off from the outside world and enjoy the incredible wildlife the place has to offer. We’re talking magnificent sea eagles, blue hare, roe deer and otters, to name but a few.
Whether you can only fantasise about owning such a place, or seriously considering making an offer, here are some pics of Torsa Island and its farmhouse to enjoy.

Want to peruse more weird and wonderful properties on the market? Your wish is our command. There’s this £8 million English mansion with a Poundland museum, this White House lookalike, Winston Churchill’s old London home or the most haunted house in Wales.
