If money was no object, what kind of place would you want to live in? A castle, perhaps? A humongous country estate? Have your own entire island? Or maybe you’re into the more sleek, contemporary stuff. If so, we’ve got just the house for you.

Tragerhaus in Whitecraigs (on the outskirts of Glasgow) looks like something straight out of Grand Designs and has just been put up for sale for £1,375,000.

Looking at the four-storey house from the front, you may not expect anything impressive. But this isn’t just any old mansion.

The home’s name comes from the German word ‘trager’, which loosely translates to ‘carry’ or ‘support’. Walk to the other side of the house and you’ll see its top floor majestically floating over the rest of the building and its garden. Of course, the Tragerhaus is not actually floating. The fourth floor is what’s known as a cantilevered overhang.

The super swish property is so good it was named one of the top 100 houses in Scotland by the Royal Incorporation of Architects and shortlisted as one of the country’s homes of the year. Rightmove calls it ‘an architectural joy’ with ‘inspirational design’.

Inside, there are five bedrooms, four bathrooms, three reception rooms, a plant room and a sauna/spa to wind down in. Check it out for yourself:
