Foodies, stop whatever it is you’re doing – some of the UK’s leading food aficionados have crowned the country’s best restaurant right now. At the National Restaurant Awards 2024 more than 200 British chefs, food writers and restauranteurs have compiled a list of the finest dining establishments in the land and crowned one London resto the best of the best.
The Ledbury in Notting Hill was ranked number one for 2024, 12 years since it last topped the coveted list. The fine dining venue won its third Michelin star earlier this year and, according to a Time Out food writer, serves dishes ‘as close to perfection on a plate as you’ll get in this town’. Judges praised The Ledbury for ‘its produce-led dishes that arrive strikingly plated but also for the refreshing down-to-earth nature of its cooking’.
The Big Smoke has the most establishments on the list by far. In second place was Mountain in Soho, with five other London restaurants in the top 10. You can read more about those here.
Outside of the capital, Moor Hall in Lancashire secured third place, Ynyshir in North Wales– which was named number one for 2022 and 2023 — was knocked back to fifth place and Opheem, a Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in Birmingham, came in seventh. Best restaurant in Northern Ireland went to The Muddler’s Club in Belfast while Scotland’s top spot went to The Glenturret Lalique in Crieff.
