Thought you’d seen cute? Think again. More than 130 golden retrievers are set to get together for the fourth edition of a mass ‘goldie’ meet-up in Cornwall in June this year.

Organised by the Cornwall and Devon Golden Retrievers group, the event will welcome the golden pooches to Charwell Adventure Park near Callington from 11am to June 25 at 2pm. The get-together is only open to the 1,800 furry members of the group and more than 130 retrievers have signed up for the mass playdate already. Owners can come along as guests, of course, as well as paying members of the public without dogs.

Dee Johnson, who currently owns six golden retrievers herself, regularly organises monthly meet-ups for owners and their dogs at venues across Cornwall and Devon.

‘Mine and my husband’s six goldies, which are six generations of girls, are like our children,’ Johnson told ITV News. ‘We have seven adult children too, but they have all flown the nest several years ago.

‘From experience, it takes a certain type of person to own a Golden Retriever. They are usually very warm, kind, caring and friendly. The best of my friends are goldie owners.’

If you want to join the mass of fluff, you’ll have to pay a small £5 entry free. Any profit made from the event will go to Irish Retriever Rescue, a non-profit rescue charity which rehomes golden retrievers that are unwanted, rescued, or abandoned.

ICYMI: The Brecon Beacons National Park has a new Welsh-language name.

Plus: England is getting four new official wild swimming spots for the summer.
