There are a lot of things we do better than America. Sunday Roasts, plug sockets, complaining about the weather. Some things, however, they completely outdo us in. Fast-food, for example.

We Brits have never quite mastered the art of the quick, just about edible yet somehow delicious meal quite like the States has. And soon, your options for greasy goodness will be getting even bigger, as another joint has made its way across the Atlantic.

Carl’s Jr, known in the US for their burgers and fries, has finally set a date for opening its first British restaurant. It was announced nearly a year ago that the chain was looking into emigrating to our little island, and the day is finally here. Well, almost here.

On April 3, Carl’s Jr will open its inaugural British venue in Cardiff. Congrats, Cardiff, you are the chosen ones. We hope you savour every single bite of those crispy waffle fries. If you’re not lucky enough to be near south Wales, don’t fret: there are plans to open more than 100 more locations across the country in the coming years.

Carl’s has hinted at one in the south of England this summer, but exact locations are not known for any restaurants except for Cardiff – keep your fingers crossed for your local area.

The menu is pretty similar to another, similarly red and yellow fast food joint, but there are a few different options including jalapeno poppers, hash browns, and even a ‘zucchini’ (aka courgette) burger. There are also some pretty unique drink options, such as the ‘blood orange baller’, which is an orange flavoured boba-tea. What other drive-thru offers boba?

Satnam Leihal, CEO of the brand, said that they are excited to ‘bring the ‘Eat Like You Mean It’ experience, born in California, to the UK’, adding: ‘Carl’s Jr.’s international success is a testament to its fantastic food quality and innovative approach.’
