It’s official: summer is over. Festival season, Carnival and the stint of heatwaves are done and dusted and we’re heading for ‘cyclone September’. But what better time to visit the cinema without feeling guilty that you’re missing out on all the sunshine?

Vue, Cineworld and ODEON are slashing ticket prices to celebrate National Cinema Day this Saturday September 3. Seats have been reduced to just £3 (plus a small online booking fee), meaning you could see films like Jordan Peele’s Nope and Thor: Love and Thunder for literal pocket change.

The initiative is run by Cinema First and supported by the Film Distributors’ Association and the UK Cinema Association. It aims to celebrate the magic of the big screen after the turmoil of the past couple of years, and if that means slashing prices for consumers, who are we to complain?

On the weather front, it’s likely that most parts of the UK will experience showers on Saturday, so that’s your sign to head down to your local cinema to take advantage of the one-off deal. Just make sure to check that it’s taking part in the flash sale beforehand.

ICYMI: this is officially the worst airline for delays.

Plus: these superjets can take you from London to New York in just three and a half hours.
