Besides being busy planning its first in-store pub and designing croissant handbags, Lidl has gathered impressive momentum opening new stores over the past year. In December, it opened three supermarkets in London in a single day and for its 30th birthday back in May, it released a looong list of all the places it wants to set up shop next.

Now, some of its birthday wishes are coming true. Four places on that list are getting new Lidl supermarkets this month. One top of that, five existing stores have enjoyed big investments and are set to reopen in February, bigger and better than ever.
The five upgraded stores, which include West Ealing and Cwmbran in south Wales, have been given larger sales areas and more modern amenities. Lidl has promised that all nine branches will be ‘state-of-the-art’.
Don’t see your hometown on the list? Rest assured, the supermarket chain (one of the fastest growing in the UK) has many, many more openings it’s sleeves.
Richard Taylor, chief development officer at Lidl GB, said: ‘This is just the start – we’ve got more openings in the pipeline this year alone and can’t wait to welcome even more customers, both loyal and new, through our doors in the weeks ahead.’
