For 26 years, The Shed was a stalwart of Glasgow’s party scene. But in September last year, its owners made the sad announcement that the club would be closing it doors for good. It’s been empty ever since, but now there are signs that The Shed could be making a comeback... kind of.

The social media page formerly owned by The Shed has come back to life under the name The Marlborough. In a post shared on Facebook and Instagram, it wrote: ‘We’ve heard the whispers, we’re sure you have too, but it won’t be long now… Marlborough nights coming soon.’

The new name pays homage the original name of the club. It opened as ‘Marlborough House’ in the 1920s.

The owners told Glasgow Live that it the club will return with an ‘air of sophistication and intrigue’, saying that there’s a real ‘community buzz’ around its reopening. There’s not much more to report at the moment – it’s all very mysterious.

At the time of its closure, The Shed wrote on social media: ‘It’s been 26 years since The Shed first opened in Shawlands. Since then, we’ve welcomed generations of Glaswegians through our doors.

‘Some of you met your life partners here – others broke up with them. A few of you were barred (and still are), thousands went home without their black, leather, New Look jacket – size 10.’

Here’s hoping The Marlborough brings those glorious nights back to life.
