Revs fans, we’ve got some unfortunate news. The bar chain that has overseen many a night on the lash fueled by juicy cocktails and shots of questionable vodka flavours has announced that it is closing eight sites across England.

Revolution venues in Derby, Reading, St Peters Liverpool and Wilmslow are all set to pull the plug. Revolucion de Cuba sites in Sheffield, Southampton and the Playhouse in Newcastle-Under-Lyme will also be closing. Where are we meant to get our helping of jelly baby vodka now?

Apparently, the company actually recently reported its best Christmas trading period since 2019. But the decision is down to the cost-of-living pressures facing its younger customers.

Rob Pitcher, Revolution’s chief exec, said: ‘Our younger customers are still feeling the disproportionate effect of the cost-of-living crisis and the national living wage will increase materially in April 2024.

‘Therefore, we have taken the difficult yet ultimately beneficial step for the group to close several bars which are unprofitable.’

We haven’t been told a date for the closures yet but staff at the closing sites will be offered jobs elsewhere. It will leave the company with 22 pubs and 58 bars dotted around the country.

If you’re losing your local Revolution, don’t fret. They are plenty of other places to fill the Revs shaped hole in your life and Time Out has sought out some of the very best. Choose from our favourite bars in Liverpool and the best bars in Manchester (for you Wilmslow folk).
