In ye olde days of yore, you had to order a taxi from a local cab service to get home on a night out. You had to buy a map to get around a new city, and if you were running late for a train you just had to accept your fate.
Today, we live in the modern era, where most cities have Uber or Bolt or another app-based taxi-hailing company around every corner – and you know that you won’t be scammed by a taxi driver taking the long way round.
While the rest of us have been revelling in car-share goodness for years, Swansea has been living in the dark, Uber-less ages – until now. Uber has finally landed in the Welsh city, and according to the app more than 4000 people a week have been using it to get around.
If you’re less interested in being driven, and more into the idea of the ‘drive around and make some cash’ aspect of the app, then you’ll already know that Uber can also be a great way to earn some extra money when it suits you. If you’ve got a car and a driver's license and live in the wider Swansea area, now could be your time to use some of that good old entrepreneurial spirit.
As a gift to the people of Swansea, Uber is giving everyone £20 off their first two journeys until March 24, so make sure to make the most of that before it’s taken away. After that journeys will cost regular rates, but at least getting home after your late night kebab will be made much more convenient.
