The countdown to Christmas is on and cosy strolls around festive markets are officially in sight. If you find yourself wandering a Chrimbo market here in the UK, you could well be inside one of the best in the world.

Travel experts at InsureandGo have dug into online data to find out which markets are the most popular on the planet right now. Specifically, they looked into how much search volume has increased over the last year.

In third place, and the top trending market for the UK, was Covent Garden Christmas Market in London. Apparently, there’s been a 238 percent increase in online search popularity for Covent Garden’s seasonal celebrations compared to July to September 2023.

With a 122 percent increase in searches, Blenheim Palace Christmas Market ranked sixth on the list. Visitors to the posh country house can expect a range of pop-up stalls, an illuminated light trail and an ice skating rink around its Great Court.

The huge Frankfurt Christmas Market in Birmingham (the biggest German market outside of Germany and Austria) saw a 90 percent rise in popularity, landing it in eighth place.

In case you’re curious, Stockholm’s Skansen market was ranked top of the list and New York’s Bryant Park’s market placed second.
