Where are you off to on holiday next year? If you’re still undecided, travel magazines are out to get your attention – and they reckon that some of the world’s best places to visit in 2025 are right here in the UK. The likes of East Anglia, the Outer Hebrides and Sussex have all recently been touted as must-visits by travel mags.

And now another travel publication is singing the praises of destinations closer to home. Wanderlust Magazine has just revealed its 23rd annual ‘Reader Choice Awards’, which name the planet’s ‘most desirable’ places to visit according to 168,000 readers.

In the ‘most desirable’ islands in Europe category, a whopping three places in the British Isles made the cut. The Isle of Skye placed highest, coming seventh – you can find Time Out’s list of the best things to do in Skye here.

The other two destinations are in the British Isles but not part of the UK, as they’re crown dependencies. Jersey came eighth and the Isle of Man came 10th. You can read more on Time Out about the Isle of Man’s plans to become the British Isles’ next big tourist attraction.

Top of Wanderlust’s ‘most desirable island in Europe’ category was Malta, while Sri Lanka was named the planet’s most desirable island. You can read Wanderlust’s full list here.

And here’s one UK destination that tourists are being told to avoid visiting in 2025.
