Who doesn’t love ramen? And who doesn’t want it available 24/7? A new restaurant in Oxford called EZ Ramen is offering exactly that, and get this – the entire place is staff-less.
Open 24/7, EZ Ramen will work via a membership, with customers opting for a day pass or monthly subscription which is capped at 40 visits.
And it’s pretty cheap and cheerful too: a day pass will cost just £1.70. Now, as for the no-staff part, according to the website, the restaurant will operate on the basis of mutual trust. Only those with a membership can get in, and they can’t bring in other people (EZ’s creators are figuring out a way to launch couples/family passes).
You’re allowed to bring other food and drinks in and can expect to find a noodle menu consisting of toppings including pickles, kimchi, mushrooms, bean sprouts and fish cakes – all cooked in just three minutes. There will also be 24/7 security – meaning no stealing.
There will also be vending machines that provide drinks and ice cream, as well as pinball machines.
Co-founder Indra Tor said: ‘I wanted to create a forward-thinking place that looks at how people live their lives today. The world has changed, and people’s habits are different.
‘EZ Ramen is about being forward-thinking about technology and how we can create a restaurant that is different and embraces new things but also allow people to learn.’
The restaurant is aiming to open in December. You can find out more here.
