As frostier weather engulfs the nation and darkness draws in earlier day by day, it can be incredibly tempting for Brits to go into hibernation mode. But trust us, autumn is one of the best times of the year to explore the great British outdoors.

In case you need a bit more incentive to emerge from your duvet cocoon, how about exploring a National Trust property, completely free of charge? That’s right – the heritage and nature charity is giving away free passes to 200 of its properties across England and Wales.

This is your chance to wrap up and kick through crispy autumn leaves in some of the UK’s most beautiful gardens and woodlands, and tour some magnificent castles and stately homes.

Each free pass allows entry for maximum two adults and up to three children or one adult and up to four children. If you’d rather visit with four adults, you’ll have to purchase two passes .

The tickets are single-use and only valid until October 18. You can claim yours here. Some places require you to pre-book, so just make sure to select the free member's ticket option and use the code AUTUMN24 when asked for your membership number.

We should note that there are several attractions excluded from the offer, including Stonehenge, St Michael’s Mount in Cornwall and all properties managed by National Trust Scotland. So, avoid disappointment and make sure to browse the full list of exemptions here.
