If you’ll pardon the pun, Greggs are on a roll. It may be a bad time for the high street generally, but the baked-goods chain has been thriving. Last year, in fact, Greggs opened a whopping 220 new stores in the UK, bringing up its nationwide total to 2,473.
And Greggs isn’t slowing down anytime soon. In fact, the beloved bakery chain has revealed plans to open between 140 and 160 new shops this year. Greggs is apparently particularly targeting the south of England, and says it does not intend to raise its prices.
The chain’s chief executive Roisin Currie said: ‘Where there’s any location where you can’t currently access a Greggs easily, we want to try and get into that location.’
Sounds ambitious, eh? Not all of those 160 new Greggs have confirmed locations, but here’s everything we know so far.
