Cineworld has added six more of its multiplexes to the list of cinemas it will be closing down.

On the list are Cineworld cinemas in Middlesbrough, Castleford, Leigh, Poole, Northampton and Weymouth.

As reported in the summer, the struggling cinema chain has been in talks to sell some of its UK sites after appointing administrators and being delisted from the London Stock Exchange. The plans to tackle its significant debt have resulted in swingeing cuts to its 100-plus sites as the multiplex chain implements its restructuring plan.

The closures are part of a wider series of cost-cutting measures by the and follow the shuttering of cinemas in Glasgow Parkhead, Swindon, Bedford, Loughborough and Yate in October.
